The second study is co-authored with Bruno Arpino (University of Padova, Italy) and Ester Rizzi (UCLouvain, Belgium). We investigate the mediating role of self-protective behaviour (e.g., mask use, vaccines, etc.) in the link between the availability of close kin ties and COVID-19 outcomes.

Random intercept models on 235,985 parent-child dyads (519,715 observations) indicate a beneficial role of children’s education on parental health. The association is stronger for parents with low educational attainment — This benefit was especially evident for low-educated mothers.

The first study is a collaboration with Marco Tosi from the University of Padova (Italy). We examine the links between #adultChildren’s level of education and the health (frailty) of their ageing parents.
