Nostalgia in a random side street in Ankara.

Since I'm sick and on a break from Twitch and everything, anyone interested in more gaming history, Twitch shenanigans and Italian memes could do much worse than join my new Discord server. Hold up, not much worse. https://discord.gg/t9kSHPxn3

You know Steins;Gate is old when they are talking about CRTs monitors as something of a worthless niche that nobody is interested in.

Being sick was the perfect opportunity to catch up with Mouthwashing. A game better written, paced and structured than many horror movies I've seen in the last ten years.
Despite my patience running thin with derelict space stations, couldn't put it down until the end. Little gem.

Sick today but I'm not going to let that stop me from my last stream before a bit of holidays (kinda).
When you're sick what better comfort than random kids multimedia from the late 90s? I mean plenty other things but there ya go. 6.30 join and bring the paracetamol www.twitch.tv/thegenesiste...

Time to update this classic game for a new audience

In 1990, fourteen-year-old Travis Fowler wrote to Origin Software to plead his case as a devoted follower of Lord British, to see if he could get a discount on Ultima VI (70$ was too much).
He actually got a free copy of the game. He continued writing to the company in the future, too.

More MYST tonight and of course more random AGS adventurin'. Also SPADONI. Oh lord.

The game was developed by Michael Hedley, who has continued working in games for many years, even going on to "recent" games such as 2006' Prey and Driver: San Francisco (2011). Imagine Prey having some of the DNA of Witchswitch, just amazing.

Witchswitch is a unique 1984 Commodore 64 game, with the classic (for the time) multilevel mechanics.
As for me, any game that starts out with a baboon being pulled by a rope hanging from the neck of a leprechaun jumping on mushrooms over a black swamp has my undivided attention immediately.

A rarely spotted in the wild The Lucky Dime Caper box set.
This was, apparently, the only special edition released on the Sega Master System back in the day. Contains game, t-shirt, audio cassette and a Land of Illusion poster.
Only available in the UK, although imported in other countries.
November 14, 2025 at 8:05 AM
Is it me or do I've MYST something?
Indeed, tonight I'll be starting my Myst remake (the uh... recent one) playthrough, and perhaps some AGS bonus too.
Join in at 9.30. Or don't and regret it your entire life. Your choice, mate. YOUR CHOICE.

So, Kojima had no prior knowledge of ANYTHING regarding Zerocalcare and just took the picture cause he was there. Could have been the leader of the Illinois nazi, same thing. Somhow, this "explanation" isn't making things any better.

Let's spice up this grey Wednesday with one of the most unique game soundtracks.🧵
Skullmonkeys by Terry Scott Taylor picks up where he left off with The Neverhood. Instead of a simple acoustic affair, this spirals out in all kinds of directions, following the platformer's different areas/moods.

Seriously, how hard could early 90s game over screens go?
November 11, 2025 at 1:52 PM
A nice game over screen

Yesterday was the last day that my ol' gaming website VoxelSmash was online. There was a point in 2023 when we were operating with a (small) staff and even had a tiny but substantial freelance budget. Then, in November, Google hit us and destroyed all hopes of doing (decent) journalism.
November 10, 2025 at 8:36 AM
Time to go to that foreign and far away land of Europe today for some European games of all sorts, colors and origins.
Will we find some decent titles today? Probably not. Will I get mad? Probably yes.
See you 6.30 PM on www.twitch.tv/thegenesiste...

Rewatching the original Mortal Kombat and hearing THREE Stabbing Westward songs feels like coming home. The days when an entire soundtrack could change the life of a band or even of a whole record label.
Ironically, none of the Stabbing Westward songs ended up in the album

Lots of classic moments last night, like me ruining Ceremony of Innocence with Arnold screaming (don't ask)

Tonight it's all spoiled, it's all gone, it's very BAD MILK.
And finishing Michigan Report from Hell hopefully cause that has gone on long enough.

GP Advance was a 3D GBA racing game in development at Italian studio Prograph in 2003. Marketed as having "Psx-level graphics", using an in-house engine, the game featured up to 45k polygons on screen, running smoothly. In the end, no publisher could be found and the game was cancelled.

Wondering if this "exclusive" Team Sega backpack / fanny pack was ever released outside of Italy.
November 6, 2025 at 3:19 PM
I honestly don't remember people going to arcades looking so cool.
