Refined my reference sheet a little bit. Changed up the hair so it's hopefully a little more obvious that that he has a ponytail, added more asymmetrical details to his main outfits, and edited around the colors.

Tempted to start a new RPG Maker project from scratch again agghh.

I can't keep doing this. I need to actually sit down and stick with only one of these so I can actually finish it. But it's so tempting when I feel like my current project is too directionless and incoherent.

I don't know why but lately any time I hear the word "perchance" my immediate response us to say, "you can't just say 'perchance'" and I blame this essay even though I only just recently reread it now.

SO... I'm pretty much done with Fortnite. There were statements made by Tim Sweeney saying that AI usage doesn't need to be disclosed, and then AI usage was found all over this current season- from art to sprays to in-game songs. Between that, and the upcoming shitty wizard collab... Yeah, I'm done.

I miss when I used to draw those bigass cartoony bug eyes for my characters I think I might start doing that again.

I know I literally just did a test for this recently but I'm still really tempted to try and switch over to a much more limited color palette for my OC art. I feel like it'd give the same feel as trying to get them to look right with a limited set of markers...

It already kinda looks that way cause I tend to shade and highlight it with pink but I'm thinking I might officially establish that Damian is specifically wearing rose gold accessories, because pink is my second favorite color.

My thoughts on the Zentreya outfit, meant to critique/teach.

As someone so entrenched in fashion, I feel the need to use this as an educational moment for all. As nervous as I am, it's important to address these things directly, for learning, transparency, and growth.

Firstly, fascism is so pervasive in clothing/fashion because that pervasiveness IS the point. The following is an extremely compressed historical summary. Mussolini deliberately wanted to create an "Italian Fashion" in order to spread the ideology across the world, with the “popularization” of the “Black Shirt” then trickling down into the uniforms of the Nazi party. Both dictators (Mussolini and Hitler) desired to create a fashion “industry” outside of French influence. This then evolved into the numerous variations in fascist uniform, because the point WAS and STILL IS to subsume everything, every aspect of life was integrated into the “ideal”. Therefore, these uniforms are not “harmless relics” of a “bygone era”, which is a gross glossing-over of the second world war, but a vehicle used to perpetuate bigoted, violent, and genocidal means of thought. By making them “fashionable” or rather, the more accurate term, marketable, then it becomes socially desirable, simplified: people want to be a part of it due to shared belief or even to wear the clothes to feel “included” and so on. It is the selling of thought through clothing/imagery. It is deliberately, purposefully designed to proliferate and spread itself. You cannot have an outfit connected to or referencing fascist ideals solely because "it looks cool", outside of being morally incorrect, that thought process lacks critical thinking. You've fallen into the very trap set for you. Whether an individual holds those same beliefs or not, wearing the clothing communicates that they do, THAT'S the issue. “If it walks like a duck” then becomes “If it dresses like a fascist, it is a fascist”, because that is what the outfit is communicating. The caps, coats, and their variations CANNOT be removed from the intention because the intent is literally woven into the clothing itself. Much like the media we consume, we have to approach our clothing critically, whether it's an outfit we actually wear or something we dress our characters in. When it comes to designing fashion or even just constructing an outfit from our own closets, we have to assess the WHY of what we are wearing and what our clothing is communicating to others. Granted this is barely touching the surface of the issue, fashion's issues with cultural appropriation, and overall problematic engagement with the world around it. That is to say we should not be paranoid of our clothing, or be so consumed by accidentally setting off dog whistles that we lose the joy of creating outfits, as aforementioned, we merely need to approach the topic of fashion and design from a critical angle, and do our due diligence to research use of shape, color, and accessories.
