Meduza, an online news outfit staffed by Russian exiles, says that one of the reasons Russia doesn't want the war to end is that they don't want to deal with hundreds of thousands of demobilized soldiers. They have PTSD, drug and alcohol problems, and the job market may not be able to absorb them.

Whether you support one side or the other (I won't address that here), neither Trump, Putin, or Zelenskyy is going to miss a meal or a night's sleep over the carnage in Ukraine. It is the ordinary people, military and civilian, who are going to suffer and die. I see no glory in that.
