Just finished @tkingfisher.com's new Sworn Soldier book -- a delight front to back, as always. I don't usually do horror but I'd follow Alex Easton anywhere (except maybe an abandoned coal mine...) I wonder if the author's been listening to Old Gods of Appalachia?

Woke up early to read the new @tkingfisher.com and found a line that recalled my daughter's passionate herpetological phase. I remember other adults looking at me like "please help?" and I'd respond with a look that said "I talked with your son for 20 minutes about trucks last week."

Three pink flowers with many many small petals and fringed yellow centers. The top flower has a brown center and looks a bit past peaks. There are greens int he background and some fuzzy out of focus other blooms

Monday morning
A handful of orchid-purple flowers -- about the size of a quarter I think -- with a yellow heart and five tiny orange stamen, all against a blurry background of serrated leaves and stems. Google images says these are crane's-bill.

ECHINACEA! It's an echinacea! I knew I knew it! Pristine echinacea with purple-pink petals and a lovely spikey orange-green center and a fat and happy bee in the center. Against a blurred background of other brightly colored flowers and greenery. It's a good garden, y'all

gloriously orange daylily with a pale stripes down the center of the three main petals and a narrower stripe down the smaller ones. The heart is yellow with a feathery ring of deep red. It's a good flower.
