I used to start thinking there was some secret or unknown rule to how doors would open up, like what direction, and whether or not they would be in the corners, based on how people probably use their dominant hand to open the door.

I mean, I dunno. We can definitely chalk up some of the people staying home in their solidly colored states to be entirely due to the fact that people are now cognizant of the fact that their votes in those states largely do not matter at all.

The same motivation that causes them to constantly point out hypocrisies that don't exist in the other side, and expect those hypocrisies to cause their opponents to implode, is the same motivation that causes them to believe in those rules. I don't really find it compelling.

Which is basically just to say that I think the core ideal of liberalism as being this kind of faith in this "fair" system of capitalism, and these made up rules inside of this made up system, isn't a coherent core value to possess, and isn't a winning message with probably most people.

It's definitely the only take on that particular line being spoken from donald trump, but, maybe naively, I don't think the core message of the statement is one I actually disagree with. I'd be a fan of it, actually, if donald trump was, say, trying to get everyone healthcare.

for these oligarchs and neocons, the core value is just sucking money out of the government, funneling it into private enterprise, and becoming effectively an unaccountable, authoritarian government department. Anything that's not working towards that end is "inefficient" and "wasteful".

The core problem is that efficiency is a meta-level value. It's not a good unto itself, it's only a metric for something else. They are deceived into believing it's a unilateral good so that neocons and oligarchs can smuggle their values into the conversation, and into the mind of the average voter.

realistically I think it would've made more sense if they just recycled the designs, dialed them in and gave them a little bit of variety, and then cycled out maybe 10 to 20 of the pokemon for stuff that's completely new.
