In Ontario they get paid minimum wage, there is no longer a server wage. I really wish we could do away with tip culture and expect the employer to pay their employees and not the customer

I can agree that police budgets are far to large and can be reduced to spend more on social programs that reduce crime.

Yes we should absolutely support politicians that will work in the public's interest, blindly increasing the budget is sure fire way to get corruption

no idea how this would work but, if the public did have complete control over the police budget I wonder if that would change anything for the better or make is worse. My city did have there budget funds redirected into social workers that come along with the police. Seems to have a positive effect

it's a big issue yes and I don't know what the right solution is, luckily I don't live the states and I don't wish for this kind of "policing" to filter it's way any more than it was into Canada. It was a pleasure chatting with you on this.
October 19, 2025 at 6:55 PM
I don't think I agree with you on that but what do you feel is a solution or at least a step towards a solution? how do we make things better for the public?
October 19, 2025 at 6:34 PM
I can see that view, perhaps reform would be more meaningful if it was. dissolve the unison, fire all the cops, redesign police training, change accountability to the public (somehow), rehire. maybe? this along side lots of other social things.
October 19, 2025 at 6:30 PM
Fair. A few decent people won’t rebuild the system but something needs to change, and there is probably a better solution out there. I'm like to employ "don't let perfect be the enemy of good" when trying to solve a problem. it is good to attract decent people to the police force, not perfect
October 19, 2025 at 6:22 PM
Shouldn't we want decent and more qualified people as police? or are you implying we abolish the police all together?
October 19, 2025 at 5:46 PM
shouldn't we want a system that a decent person would want to be part of?

I get the skepticism of the PR account, so I can give a little bit on this coming from there account, but just a little.
October 19, 2025 at 5:41 PM
I'm curious what you feel it should be then and how we get their.

Lot of people are angry, rightfully so but I would love to hear peoples idea's on different solutions.
October 19, 2025 at 5:35 PM
I get what your implying and to a point I agree as well, I need to think about this point more.

Is your solution like some of the people replying to me to abolish the police all together?
October 19, 2025 at 5:30 PM
Jackbooted thugs, no can't say I think that. What I do think is better, social programs, social workers, social housing along side reform of policing. Example from were I'm from, we send social workers along with police to certain calls.

What would you replace the system with then?
October 19, 2025 at 5:23 PM
It's good to have a good skeptical mindset, but how do you distinguish between PR and just goodwill, does it even matter? If we keep faulting them when they are acting appropriately how can we expect better, why would a descent person want to be a cop then if the public hates them regardless?
October 19, 2025 at 4:38 PM
I 100% agree with this. our current system is a punishment (if I can be more bold), slave labour. Some of the countries in Europe have a much better system than the US or Canada. This is one thing we should be more vocal about.
October 19, 2025 at 4:33 PM
I don't think that 100% true, but lets run with that. What is your solution then? You/We have agreed on better social programs, removing unnecessary criminal laws, more social workers. But I don't think these will address what happens when a crime or murder does happen. What can your solution be?
October 19, 2025 at 4:27 PM
I agree with all these things, but I would guess some kind of police reform should be part of this don't you think? and if we want to encourage quality people charged with protecting our well being I don't think automatically hating them would be a positive way of doing this.
October 19, 2025 at 4:22 PM
I agree with all that, those improvements will help reduce crime. Are you suggesting that crime becomes a non issue then? What happens when someone is murdered or breaks into your house?
October 19, 2025 at 3:48 PM
How would you insure safe communities or respond to crimes? assuming there would be such a think as crime in your scenario?
October 19, 2025 at 3:40 PM
Criticize them when they deserve it, and yes they do deserve be criticized. How does pushing back on them when they act with etiquette help? does it encourage them to act better or worse in the future.
IMO point out their failure and praise them for there successes, or you will only have bad cops
October 19, 2025 at 3:37 PM
So police reform then, which makes sense to me and is very much needed. The constant negative view from the public (earned in a lot of cases) would be a detractor to reform don't you think? We should be praising when appropriate and be critical when required, or we will end up with just Bad Cops
October 19, 2025 at 3:24 PM
So what's your ideal solution here? No cops at all, policing reform?

If we continue with abs you will end up with a self fulfilling prophecy
October 19, 2025 at 2:36 PM
Let me get this straight when cops are violent all cops are bad, when they are non-violent they are not behaving correctly? Do you hear yourself, maybe you just want to hate them for just being cop. Nothing will change for the better with this kind of thinking.
October 19, 2025 at 2:10 PM
Do you have a link for them being funded by BRICS? I would love to read and share that with a few people.
