It occurs to me only now with clarity that we (and by "we", I mean Australian soccer historians, but also anyone who tries to perpetuate the idea of an ongoing Australian soccer narrative) may have a fundamental misunderstanding of the "narrative" problem in Australian soccer.
And football historians sit around waiting for the game to be run by people who understand the value of narrative history and how the game is excluded from Australian mythology because we don’t tell our stories well or often.

As a nine-year-old in Melbourne, this song helped shine a light on Ethiopia like no other. As for that $15 million raised, we're not talking about the British Royal family here, this was largely the British working class who were struggling to make ends meet during a recession.
This song was beloved 40 years ago. Now people are looking at it differently
In 1984, Band Aid’s Do They Know It’s Christmas? was lauded as a charitable masterpiece. Now, it’s being talked about for other reasons.

The return of the AMPOL Cup would have been ideal, but kudos to the FA on landing a naming rights sponsor for their largest domestic football property. All that is needed now is a cevapi and souvlaki sponsor and bring on 2025!

The past few months have been busy, but putting the final touches on the stories behind our five Hall of Fame inductees has been the most rewarding work I have done all year. It promises to be a wonderful evening. #50years #FVHoF #HERLEGACY

Not sure Stanley understands the history of Cole Reserve in a football context, but he sure loves a sprinkler head 💦
