I'm not sure why Obama got so much attention over executive order usage when it's been a long-standing tradition of back and forth for over a century.
FDR issued 3,721 orders during his 4 terms (prior to the 22nd amendment ratification).
This is not to suggest that Trump's orders are justified.

This is not an IQ issue, it is an "identity" issue. As we've become more polarized as a country, there has been a strong emphasis on joining a tribe for one side or another. Values and ideas become lumped into one tribe or the other, so if you believe in nuance, then you are left out in the cold.
