Forest - pastel on black toned paper.
Original plan was for this image to serve as under painting for more pastel layers. Took this photo prior to spraying with fixative. When I sprayed the image with fixative, the pastel dust more or less disappeared from the paper!
I guess it was finished :)

Bell the Jack Russell, pen and ink + watercolor. Bell used to be crazy about fetching sticks. She had such a big personality, we’d forget that she was only the size of a cottontail. Caught twice by coyotes(!) during her life, but still managed to die of old age.
She was a fine, fine dog.

Jack the Hound on a hot afternoon in the Valley of the Gods - watercolor (ironically enough). The sun was echoing and reflecting off of the red slickrock walls.

Cooper’s Hawk on a Cottonwood branch - acrylic paint on toned paper. Seems we see these guys in fits and starts. They’ll haunt the backyard for a week or two, then disappear for a couple of weeks.

Verdin on a buckhorn cholla - micron pen + watercolor. This was from a trip to Phoenix a few(!) years back. The contrast between the delicate Verdins and the harsh cactus spines was pretty neat.

A colored pencil sketch of a Bison. (More than a) Few years ago, one of the ranchers down in McElmo Canyon was keeping buff over the winter in one of his pastures. ‘‘Twas quite beautiful.
