The @womeninbeer.bsky.social Awards took place at Eko Brewery in Peckham yesterday. The evening served as a great reminder of what’s most important about the beer industry. Not beer styles or hop varieties or hype. It’s always the community and making meaningful connections that are of worth.

A beer that many people in the North East were weaned on - McEwan’s Best Scotch has been discontinued. We have one full keg left and then, it’s gone. Interesting project from the V&A. Because it wasn’t just a pub or a venue that you visited. It was someone’s first gig, first band, first feeling of independence.

The V&A is collecting memories like these — because they matter.

The museum is planning a 2026 display about the importance of grassroots and independent music spaces in the UK, covering the years 1988 to 2025.
