Northern Flicker - Colaptes auratus 🪶
A Northern Flicker sits attentively in the lower branches of a dormant cottonwood tree. The distinctive black “apron” and spots on its belly are readily visible, as is some of the subtle red on its head and tail. This individual’s colorations appears to identify it as a “red-shafted” female.

American Kestrel - Falco sparverius 🪶
