PC's used to keep it real! In 1995 RealPlayer was launched ushering in an era of web based #music listening. Beyond giving netizens their 1st taste of #streaming, RealPlayer supported many formats before .MP3 emerged as a standard and there was also a media player that competed with the #iTunes.

Commercial Heart Rate Monitors were first introduced in the late 1970's and can use both optical and electrical means of measuring your heart rate. Using Photoplethysmography a HRM tracks the contraction of blood vessels to estimate heart rate but electrocardiography uses the bio-electrical.

A Polyptych is a type of #painting with multiple panels. Most Polyptych's have a central panel and flanking images or 'wings.' While word comes poly- "many" and ptychē "fold" #art snobs tend to believe polyptychs only refer to works w/ more than 3 panels, like the one pictured at The Tate

Sometimes #food is so good you need to put it on a pedestal. In Burmese culture, most meals are served on a Daunglan. A Daunglan acts as both table and tray to serve small dishes, like danpauk, a dish similar to Biryani. Some Daunglans are very ornate and are often made of lacquered bamboo #myanmar

Most #fish don’t surface to breathe, but Gar have swim bladders that can also act as lungs. As a result, Gar can survive in #water too deoxygenated for most other fish. However, they can’t survive being turned into lampshades, which their scales are sometimes used for.

No IFs, ANDs, BUTs...only ORs. The XOR gate is a #logic gate in digital #programming that when presented with two items, "A" and "B" only returns TRUE if A and B are different. A key feature of the popular 1960's 7400 circuits from Texas Instruments was XOR functionality.

Snow played a huge role in last night's #Browns vs. #Steelers game with over 8 inches of snow. That's nothing compared to the 1995 Chargers-Giants game that had almost 20 inches of snow on the ground. Fans throwing snowballs almost caused the #Giants to forfeit.
