I was gifted "Rangers" some years ago, but finally gave it a go! It's a pretty simple introductory fantasy. Everything that it tries to do, it does well, and I did like it as light reading - though there is an argument to be made that some fantasy tropes should be challenged.

Next it was Hotel Brasil. It opens with an intriguing mystery and a colorful cast, only to forget about all of that for most of the book and focus on the life of a single character. In the end, it seems to remember the mystery and tries to tie that up. Not sure what the author was trying here

The first was Piranesi! The setting - a world of infinite rooms covered with statues - is immediately intriguing, and it's a pretty engaging to watch the analytical protagonist as the plot unfolds. It's a book that you can read at a surface level but also discuss about possible deeper meanings.
