Web dev & designer, of an age, drinking coffee, cuddling chihuahua and cat, into stories - books - films - tv - games -, Europe, kinda creative but sometimes lazy, not into bucket lists, no time for a new hobby (but always wanting to try something new).
I miss postcards! Don't you? Receiving them and sending them. Now we just send photos and selfies when we're on holiday. Postcards were fun too.
😁 anyway. Give duckduckgo a .. go. I don't miss using Google.

Also using duckduckgo. It's better. I do wonder how i managed before search engines. I had a little book with web addressed. From a travelguide brand. It was fun.

My cat asked the same thing, when he was sitting on my laptop keyboard when i came back with coffee.

It is beautiful. Every season has its charm!

Good to hear from you. Rest is important and so underestimated. You're on the mend, right? Concentrate on you.

True, there are many book out there and i too never waste time with those that really bug me. Just letting you know. Not saying you should read it.

Sometimes when a protagonist does something so shocking theres a reason beyond shock value. I think the series deals well with the aftermath for the protagonist. And acknowledgement of the crimes.

Always loved the 1st trilogy. Maybe this is my sign to reread.

Omg. How do they think people will retain any information.

Always reminded of that little robin i tried to rescue after i found it on a dog walk. Kept it in a little bix by my window on the upper floor. Window open, Robin left the box and plummeted down. Forgot how to fly?
It was a bit sad. But! There were plenty of robins around, so some were doing well.

Same, in Amsterdam. Not s white, but as 10 yo we were educated about Dutch practices around slavery and atrocities the VOC committed. Granted, im sure it was toned down a little, for our ages, but the facts were there.
Bs on anyone my age for being unawares.

No one is getting told off for being upbeat, or sad, or happy, or themselves. And if not, you can mute or block as needed, to avoid frustration on both sides.

Ive always been shocked to find people who watch trek and are full blown racist at the same time. I can't deal. Trying to argue is a waste of time, do i always manage to find other trek friends. 90% of fans are more than decent and will quibble over other things, but i can handle that.

Knitting. Watching films while Knitting. Knitting while listening to radioshows. Knitting toys for the dog. Knitting hats for kids. Just... Knitting.

We still curate our weekly watch by watching an episode of a series on a set day of the week. Yesterday: ST Discovery, tonight: White Collar, tomorrow: orange is the new black.
It feels like a little treat every day.
But yeah. I memorised the schedule back in the day.

It ties into the saying: wat de boer niet kent, dat eet hij niet.
Familiarity.
Also, you might get sandwiches you normally dont make at home. Id never create a broodje gezond. But would happily order it.

Omg. I got rid of my entite, be it Dutch, collection. And seeing this, I'm so sorry.

Treasure it.

I realised i do have Dutch friends, but always of immigrants background. It's like i cant find native Dutch people as friends.
November 15, 2025 at 6:22 PM
😄 oh, the faces of international colleagues when the standard Dutch Broodjeslunch is served.

I often get some cuppasoup to comfort them.
November 15, 2025 at 6:20 PM
True. Also, even if im not a potato fan, i still have a kilo of the things for cooking this week.

But i am a weird Dutchie.
November 15, 2025 at 6:19 PM
You'd be weird here for not eating potatoes every day.
In the 70s, my mother started cooking pasta dishes and was considered radical for not having those boiled orbs at dinner.

Wait. That Dutch directness. Potatoes. Its all so obvious now.
