Oak Canyon (appropriately enough), December 2020, a probably 180 degree horizontal panorama of a magnificent oak tree just growing every which way across the ground, 50 feet in all directions, even beginning to be covered up by dirt and trod over and still growing, in places from a folder labeled "Not Piro Canyon" (meaning I got lost and wound up on a different trail on the way to my intended destination), October 2021, a wide view of an open plain thick with tumbleweeds and other bushy vegetation, under a blue & cloudy sky with mountains in the distance, and directly center of view, an asphalt road, cracked at times, leading direct into who knows where; for me this felt like the best single representative image of the spirit of the California desert. Hummingbird Flats, June 2021, a long shot of a portion of rock shaded from the bright light around it, a curious long layer of "waviness" flowing between the more conventional rock appearance on either side, I'm unsure if perhaps petrified wood, or an ancient sedimentary layer, or who knows what? but a fascinating texture/pattern Los Pinetos Canyon, November 2020, an experimental "fisheye" side view of a concrete structure, above which is caked in generations of graffiti, below which is exposed underground structure caked in dried dirt as a result of the ground being washed away by flooding, the two divided by a thin 6" sheet of concrete "floor" that marked where the intended ground level was at one time

from a dense moss-covered log sprinkled with pine needles, grows a fungus that could almost pass as a lichen of sorts, with a chalky gray base fading into white as it fans out at the top, with a well-hidden tiny white bug exploring its top surface! from the vertical end of a moss-covered stump sprouts a cluster of two dozen tiny golden mushroom heads, all tilting upward toward the sun sprouting from a thick bed of moss, a single large mushroom grows proudly and fully, edges turned upward, its body mostly shaded except for a deep rich amber illumination through the skin around its rim, from the limited sunlight a large crevice between a tree stump and its split/peeling bark, provides a safe & secluded shady nook for five golden mushrooms to hide out, consecutively layered on top of each other, with gilled undersides & partially flaking tops
