I have seen a lot of downsizing blamed on AI but I've never actually seen someone's job adequately done by AI. Kind of seems like it's the current Boogeyman for layoffs

For people with kids and the ability to take paid vacation time I highly recommend being off fo a PD day every now and then. It can be surprisingly fun to focus on a kid all day (even if they won't remember it)

I've been a big fence sitter on the AI movement; feeling that the reality lies somewhere in the middle of the two extremes of "AI changes everything" and "AI is a garbage fad that makes life worse".

Serious question: What is the level of salary inequality that we should be ok with? Obviously billionaires shouldn't exist but at what point should a person be viewing their income as being in excess?

I watched #Nosferatu (2024) last night and wow! I'm not a big horror buff but I was very impressed with it. Felt very artistic and raw.

Jurassic Park is highly unrealistic. In reality everything would work amazingly until Elon Musk gets involved, tries to aggressively cut costs, and then ruins it because he has no fucking clue what he's doing.
