My agent is currently submitting my novel to publishers and the biggest challenge is that it does not fit into a neat category like “thriller” or “romance”, etc. I understand the business reasons for that, but isn’t that way more boring? Ugh

Agreed. Rhea is great, but it would service the enormity of the concept to have more than one lead. Jump to other characters in other areas focusing on different questions/approaches they have. I find her character frustrating because she isn’t asking what I would ask. More perspectives would help.

Book hits different between time periods. When I was a kid, I was afraid of the ghosts. When I read it as a father…man, the fear was something different.

Just finished The Reformatory. Incredible story!

It felt old in a very good way. Not rushing, not afraid to let scenes breathe. Also the costumes and sets were top tier. Really enjoyed it. I get the criticism of making Victor so one-sidedly bad compared to the book but it works in this instance.

When people deride Gen Z, I think of a 19 year old who was 10 when he was elected the first time. Whether the 19 year old was fully cognizant of politics is irrelevant. They subconsciously understand that rot and ruthlessness is king. Lessons of being good must sound like gaslighting.

This is so over the top even for him. Do people on the right respect him in your view? This is so pathetic

Set up the screen in my backyard to watch this for the 100th time. A classic.

I do not believe any of that was for pay, and pay comes from one year appropriations. The funding in the bill was for mostly hiring and marketing, and construction of facilities, not pay dollars at all. It’s an entirely different funding structure.

The GOP idiocy is amazing bc at some point, people need to get paid. Their crown jewel immigrant enforcers will begin to call in sick and quit if it goes long enough. There isn’t a magic lever, even under these guys, to pay them during this. They will have to concede at some point.

Great analysis. The GOP will be forced to concede at some point due to no pay. I don’t care how much of a sycophant you are, when you can’t buy food, you will turn. I think people need to understand they can’t just siphon off money from remaining funds to pay them, either. They’re stuck.

Part of me believes they’re so brain poisoned they deliberately dismantled the soybean market because they think it’s gay.

This sounds like coke to me (or some amphetamine) more than boozing. Paranoia, fidgety, overconfident, etc. Also not great!

That’s exactly it and what I find troubling is trying to explain this to my well-meaning parents (libs). It’s hard for them to accept, I think, that people in charge are actually insane people. “There must be some other reason.” No, dad, they’re just bad, bad people.
