Geeking out on Bainbridge Island in the Pacific Northwest on cloud and circuits. Open water swimming is my poison. Mbr of Tech Staff at Corbalt, ex-AWS, building things for the public sector. Opinions my own.
Oh, holy cow. I'm just now realizing that S3 double-chunks data streams.

There's the outer Transfer-Encoding: chunked stream, which is the normal HTTP chunked encoding. But within it S3 re-chunks the data into possibly different chunk sizes and puts chunk headers within the chunk headers. 1/2

Although this is coming from Outlook, I see a lot of these types of issues across various applications since updating to Tahoe. Lots of force quitting applications to get around stuck windows, etc.

It's... not a good release.

@kvlly.com has a great article up, "You might be carrying an invisible gun." (Subtitle: "The more senior you get, the more your words start to sound like orders")

I have *so* felt this as loftier adjectives started getting added to my title.

Have we reached AGI yet?

Missed an important meeting this morning because:
* Someone mistyped my email address
* Someone else saw this and forwarded it to me
* Somewhere in this the time zone was set to Pacific instead of Eastern (while keeping the numeric time intact)

Computers and time zones were a mistake.

I'm not sure if this is shutdown related or something else going on at DCA. But I did like the icon used in the QR code.

Softbank was considering buying Marvell, to combine them with Arm. This would've been an interesting combo; there's a lot of weird memory tricks done with networking (RDMA, etc) in HPC systems to reduce latency. Having this on a single die/chiplets, etc. ... hmm.

SoftBank Said to Have Weighed Potential Takeover of Marvell
SoftBank Group Corp. explored a potential takeover of US chipmaker Marvell Technology Inc. earlier this year, people familiar with the matter said, in what would have been the semiconductor industry’s...

So, uh, this is one of the three health plans recommended for me, and the only one of those that covers providers locally.

Are we winning yet? I hope so; I can't afford much more winning.

(No, I won't be selecting the recommended plan.)

So, I just had to put my cybersecurity hat on and lock a device.

To be specific, my son’s iPhone.

Because he left it behind in class and it was being hacked.

By his sibling.

Just to clarify, there are some situations in which I will *very* much kink shame you:
* Kinking my CAT-6 cables
* Kinking my HDMI or other display cables
* Kinking any of my coaxial or optical cables

Still testing, but now running a live meet.

This is not its final installation location. Beyond debugging, the facility will undergo a renovation soon; we’ll install it (and add trim, etc) after that.

I need to work on panel alignment. (It's more vivid in real life; camera sensors were overloaded, I think.)

It's been years since I've had to bicycle over this crappy little bridge, but count me in with the folks who are glad to see it being torn down.

A bane of thousands of Seattle bicyclists just bit the dust
The especially narrow walk-bike crossing, pounded into rubble this week, “had 25 years of uselessness,” said one Port commissioner. What happens now?

So much construction here… I wish we could have primary and standby roadways, transit lines, and airports, like we do databases. Standby is always undergoing construction for repairs and upgrades; when construction tasks are done, swap the primary and secondary roles.
