Assuming the Mets get a solid corner infielder and potentially someone else to help out at DH (akin to Winker), Siri and Taylor bring enough on defense to justify not spending on another OF.

I know there are lots of examples of teams bringing the gang back together and then struggling to recapture past magic, but Manaea was super fun to root for. Excited to see if he can continue to be a top of the rotation guy.

I have always been impressed when Ben Wikler is on Pod Save America. Hope he can do for the Democratic Party nationally what he has done in Wisconsin.

If I had to guess, I think Genevieve and Sam are still going to be perceived as bigger threats and Andy will find a way to the end of the game. The jury might be bitter, but I hope he has the opportunity to state his case. Would be fascinating!

I think he might be so underestimated based on how his game started that he doesn't receive the same backlash Genevieve got for the Sol vote. It would be awesome if he got the opportunity to explain this move to the jury.

It's amazing. I am so curious about how this will affect his perception. Does he become a target and create a path to the end for somone else like Genevieve or Sam? Or is he destined to be considered a "flipper" and won't get credit for this move?

One of the best things about Effectively Wild is that I can sit out a news cycle like this and wait to hear 2 interesting people tell me how to feel. A great service for the larger baseball community!

Unfortunately, no. As a Mets fan, the end of the deGrom run was really hard to watch because whenever he did pitch, it was hard not to expect each pitch to be his last. It got to the point that it felt like a burden had been lifted when he signed with the Rangers. Crazy, but it's how I felt.

Somehow my dog knows which inflatables are dogs and specifically barks at them. So this kind of feels like an attack to my Pancake (and other dogs like him).

I think Will Sammon reported that it was competitive to bring him in (I assume many teams wanted him on a minor league deal, but he hasn't progressed enough offensively for any team to justify a 40 man roster spot, including the Mets).

I was a little shocked by the price, but then the Cubs signed Boyd for 2/29. Starting pitching just costs a lot. At least we don't have to worry about a contract like this precluding them from doing other stuff.

Loved Season 1. Pretty disappointed with Season 2. We'll see about Season 3.

My immediate reaction was kind of meh, but I think I felt the same way about Manaea last offseason. Have to hope they can help him get back on track in 2025.

Still kind of wild that he never became a Met. Even in like Jose Bautista form. Always felt like it was about to happen for some reason.
