It hardly seems like the end of the world but one of my hens keeled over the other night and I found her stiff as a board in the hen house this morning. She has joined my compost heap and will return to the earth. Feathers to feathers, dust to dust. Her remains will enrich the vegetable patch in seasons to come, a full life cycle.
