The "-v" flag that means "verbose" for almost all other posix commands does not mean the same thing to this one!
Instead, here it means "inVert match" - ie, kill everything that does NOT match the given pattern - which is almost certainly NOT what you want.

I remember vividly when Studio 60 and 30 Rock aired at around the same time with basically the same premise from opposite angles, and which one I thought I'd love and which one I thought would disappoint.
