Technology freedom and sovereignty. Post-capitalist.
Did I miss something or they don't actually mention what they are disagreeing with? I can only find their reactions and what seems to be a soulless equivalent of LLM output about their history.

I agree if by 'bad' you mean it takes a conscious effort rather than an innate trait. If one needs to try, they probably know how to make it work under many more conditions than most people considered 'good' at socialising.

They need workers, the whole rounding up immigrants is their political version of the massive layoffs cycle in silicon valley.

Allow more and more disadvantaged under the law immigrants to work for below minimum wage without rights -> Pressure them, deport some of them -> Rinse and repeat.

I think once you read more about the governance and staff that make decisions at Mozilla, it all starts to make sense.

Almost none of these so-called "leaders" are actually invested nor have the means to make such decisions. A PR-fuelled mismatch of expectations.

I mean, that sounds like a nice-to-have feature. To elaborate on my original post, I meant that essentially removing RSS support is bowing down to Google and giving it more control over people wanting to browse the web. Making browsers less of "surfers" and more like "Google companion apps."

If you mean just creating a `did:web` account, assuming you have a PDS, github.com/afternooncur... and/or bskydidweb.pages.dev might be helpful.

If by converting you mean migration, it is not possible to migrate followers, only data like posts. There is no portability between DID methods, as far as I am aware.

Migrating from `did:plc` to `did:web` · bluesky-social atproto · Discussion #2705
Hi folks! I've signed up for Bluesky a while back in the past, but am really interested in the idea of hosting my identity in a more decentralised manner (largely for geek-cred than anything else)....

..and did:web support, please.

I propose that the stigma around crypto/blockchain/"Web3" has resulted in many "re-invent the wheel but worse" solutions in social networking.
We may not know if these technologies can actually work on the long term, but the fact they aren't even considered is concerning.

Why not say TikTok :) Dubsmash, Vine and Tiktok were all built around the same idea.

I do not have one. I am on a PDS, with a did:web identity, which has no migration path from bsky.social accounts.

Handle resolution doesn't seem to work with my PDS, or random PDSs I tried from this link: blue.mackuba.eu/directory/pd....
