Few people will ever see this, I just needed to let it out.

I learned yesterday morning that he died while ice climbing on Boxing Day. I am heartbroken, for his families loss and my own.

Without ttrpgs I probably would never have met him. I would never have met such an amazing person. Some of the bonds you forge playing games with our imaginations are the strongest and most fulfilling.

Through all this time we wrote letters, and occasionally found time to get together despite busy lives. We always talked about RPGs and shared how we ran games for our kids. He has the best collection of GI Joes I have ever seen online or in person.

Wherever we were, whether it was on opposite coasts of Canada, across the world from each other while he served in Afghanistan, or side by side hitchhiking in Malaysia his friendship was always easy.

I met my oldest friend over 30 years ago while playing ttrpgs. We had countless theatre of the mind adventures, and as we got older had some real life adventures as well.
