i think apple users are more sensitive to it since certain new macs (and some mobos but it's rare) dont have *any* USB-A ports, so it becomes unusable for certain systems if no USB-C alternative

The key is to avoid headset mics because it is basically impossible for those mics to pass a certain threshold of quality. I think the USB mics are a great idea

For the most part, quality of sound is gonna be more about type of mic than it is brand. That's more relevant with high end gear
