FIA have agreed MV can run the race first at 1pm without the other drivers. At 3pm the rest of the field will race as normal, competing for 2nd place after MVs "remarkable" win.

The complaint is more that others are penalised, often more harshly & for less severe actions, whereas Max is given nothing or soft, insignificant penalties for clear infringements. Often with FIA making excuses on his behalf or claiming it was a "mistake", but for others "rules are rules".

It died with Charlie Whiting. Rules & integrity were increasingly eroded from then. Merc/LH kept it alive by performing on track despite efforts to stop them. But merc didn't fight the off track antics, leading to AD21 where the whole WDC was awarded by a referee breaking rules.

Ironic to complain about the consistency of rulings, as Max would probably be starting 2025 with a ban had they actually penalised him properly this year. He had a few ignored and a few 2-for-1s where he'd make multiple infringements and get the penalty of 1.

It feels more like merc were treating him as already gone, so doing what was in their interests for next year, using LH to experiment with volatile setups while maintaining a stable platform for GR. This allowed them to do in race testing, knock LHs confidence going to a competitor & bolster GRs.

So is this a precedent of accepted unsportsmanlike behaviour set by the WDC who is supposed to be a role model for the sport? Or is this accountability only levelled at other drivers?
