I had an Asimov "thats funny..." moment!

Its taken as a given that bronze swords usually don't have a real hilt, at least not like later steel swords. They're very dtubby, or all together missing and instead have a slightly wider section near the bottom of the blade.... see complete post
A rusty iron sword found in Andechs, Germany. Its mottled with patches of rust, and has a few larger pieces missing out of the blade It seems to have no hilt, and the shape tapers for a moment at the tip before continuing straight down the length of the sword. The blade then flairs outward near the handle A bronze sword found in Sweden. The tip flares very slightly before continuing to the handle, only having a slight cast hilt above the handle and a round pomel
