So many renting households don't have the financial resources to cope with an emergency. Here, you can see that 25% of renting households have less than $200 on hand, and 42% have less than $1k.

People in the poorest households endure the most violence.

People in households with less than $20k in income endured 1.2 MILLION violent victimizations in 2022.

A typical household in that income bracket had just $174 on hand.

Across age and income, too, renters experience far more violence than people in owner occupied housing.
