My recommendation would be NixOS and start slowly, maybe on another 🖥️ or dual booting and figure it out, take a break when it does something weird to not burn out. It will take longer to set it up than Ubuntu or Fedora but once you do it's solid and requires little maintenance.

Maybe it's finally the Year of Linux.
I've been using Linux for a good few years now and everything works for me and I don't miss anything. You seem to have a different experience, what seems to be the problem with Linux for you ?

It sounds sketch. Either you pay for it directly or indirectly, nothing is for free. They've spent the money to buy another company and everything, so either they expect that people will pay for their AI slop or they will monetize it else how.

Unfortunately I don't think it represents the internet since in general, since people who end up on your site are already a bit more technologically inclined. I believe most people just use whatever is the default... 😢

Yeah but I doubt you could watch even YouTube shorts on your Toshiba laptop... It might have been great, it might be repairable, but like... I don't think I could use as daily driver today, but you do you :)
And for my yoga - I can replace the battery, it's not that difficult.

Messenger why not Telegram ? Private chats are very secure and it's used by way more people than the other ones, so you wouldn't need to convince so many people... It's easy to say "switch" but you can't when people around you are not willing to also

I feel like it's the same with everything... The reviews are done by professionals with insane amounts of money, and then apparently stuff that's like "C tier" costs stupid amounts of money for normal people 😭

I agree that this is not enshittification, but discord does a lot of enshittification in other places, like limiting upload sizes (again...) and other stuff. They are moving stuff that was free behind paywall and that I would call enshittification.
