A question I often get asked is how I "force" customers to upgrade to more recent versions of self-hosted software like RunsOn.

I just don't. Each RunsOn installation embeds everything it needs, so truly breaking changes are very rare. I still have users running with a June 2024 release.

Currently rewriting the Packager.io backend for storing DEB / RPM packages, in a modern way. Will be available for self-hosting as a single binary, far cheaper than e.g. packagecloud .io.

Cloudflare D1 and workers are great until you hit the (quite low) limits. Max 10GB per database, frequent memory issues... time for a change!
