Instead of playing stepladder politics, he should be spending his time thinking about how he will run the NHS without the thousands of dedicated and experienced front-line people he's about to make redundant. Civil servants can't run local health services.

Have cycled that route several times, it is a joy. The cycle paths are excellent, views are great and lots of places for coffee en route. The Duinrell holiday park was the base for some lovely family holidays.

Or, alternatively, we recognise that running the country is a shade more complex and a bit more important than managing a football team.

There is mis-quote here. Streeting says it would be inappropriate for someone born female but transitioned to look male to be in a female ward/bay. Hard to disagree with that - except where the ward specialises in treating female medicine. Politicians are crap at complex, social issues.

I've just had a marvellous experience at Northumbria Healthcare Trust. The day surgery unit at Rake Lane is excellent, all the staff were caring, helpful, professional and very committed to the service. Couldn't but recommend that you visit with Sir Jim.

The man is human, admits a serious mistake and apologises. He demonstrates that he is an adult, doing a very difficult job in the worst of circumstances. We need politicians to behave like this when they get it wrong - and we need to be mature enough to recognise that.
