Background info: One day, I wondered if there were any ripped sprites from Metal Slug Advance, and I was surprised to find some. I immediately knew I had to create another sprite piece featuring Walter and Tyra. I thought it would be interesting if the recruits fought alongside Walter and Tyra, while the natives teamed up with them to stop the Rebel menace. I wanted to include the Metal Slug and Slug Gunner, but I forgot. Now, I'm hesitant to add them because I like the idea that the cadets and natives aren't overly equipped, yet they're resourceful and able to fight and overcome seemingly insurmountable odds. Putting Differences Aside

Background info: I wanted to create a simpler piece after completing my previous sprite artwork, which was quite large. My mind immediately turned to the two Neo Geo Pocket Metal Slug games, and I was fortunate to find some ripped sprites from both games. Initially, I planned to create a more comedic piece featuring Gimlet stealing the Metal Strider, befriending a couple of Martians, and Tequila confronting him, while Red Eye watched from a distance. However, this concept didn't work out due to issues with the text. I decided to pursue a different idea: depicting the heroes relaxing with the enemy. I did some minor sprite editing, including adding the small question mark. I intentionally included a bit of a fourth wall break in this piece. Golden Fight

Background info: My mom suggested a piece featuring a battle on a broken bridge, which instantly reminded me of Mission 4 in Metal Slug 6. The background of that mission was the perfect fit for the piece I had in mind. However, it took me a while to get started, as I was unsure what specific scene I wanted to depict. Eventually, I decided on a Regular Army commando and a Rebel Army versus Ptolemaic Army scenario. This is by far my largest piece with slightly over 100 sprites. It required a lot of planning and finessing, but I'm happy with the final result. Credits to the sprites I used for Golden Fight. A good friend of mine suggested a space-themed piece, and I did my best to deliver on that suggestion. It was originally going to be more epic. I wanted to include Rootmars, one or two Monoeyes, a couple of Mars Satellites, a few more Rebels in the background, and Fio in a Mini-UFO. However, all of those ideas were scrapped because of the limiting aspect ratio of the background. I opted to make it feel like a scene that could seamlessly take place in Metal Slug 3. Not every piece has to be complicated and filled with so much story and/or action. Sometimes it's good to create something simpler. Credits to the sprites I used for Fighting for What's Taken. I had this idea floating around of two gossiping Rebel soldiers standing over a dead body, covered in blood. I finally got around to that idea, but I decided to expand it. I tried to create a more humorous scene with a touch of Metal Slug's iconic dark humour. I wasn't originally going to include the bear, but the scene was feeling pretty barren. So, I added the bear and a few other details like the Rebels building a giant snowman. I found the perfect brush to better simulate pixels, which I used to draw the blood! Background info: I suddenly had this idea to do a zombie apocalypse sort of piece shortly after I finished Murder Mystery Between Three Parties. I knew I had to do it, and that's what I did! I wasn't originally going to include the Monoeyes, but I felt like something was missing from my initial concept. I'm aware that only six Monoeyes are known to exist, but who's to say there aren't more out there? I tried my absolute best to make it feel like the beginning of a long battle. I realised that I forget to include Trevor and Nadia, but I don't want to make this particular piece feel very crowded. Credits to the sprites I used for Zombie Armageddon. Murder Mystery Between Three Parties

Background info: After I stumbled upon a DeviantArt account that posts Metal Slug sprite work, I felt inspired to give it a try. I planned to create a sprite of two laughing Rebels standing over a dead comrade, covered in blood, hinting at cannibalism. However, this idea evolved into something more interesting: a crime scene! I almost gave up on this piece due to a technical issue with one of the sprite sheets I found, but I eventually found a workaround. Despite struggling with pixel art, I tried my best to create some decent blood. One aspect I enjoyed designing was the pools of Martian blood, which have an otherworldly, slightly glowing appearance. This is largely self-indulgent, but I think it would've been fascinating to explore an alliance between the Rebel Army, Ptolemaic Army, and Martians. I imagine there would be underlying tensions between the three groups. Now, I'm curious… Who do you think committed the crime? Or was it an argument gone wrong between the now dead comrades?
