🔬 New study by @conrad_harrison et al. provides IRT models for the Oxford hip and knee scores, converting patient responses into continuous scores w/ quantifiable precision. Web apps were developed for efficient score conversion.

Here's a breakdown of the findings! (1/n)

💡Our study analyzed 415 studies with 1206 effect sizes and 71,454 participants.

With 4281 meta-analyses calculated, we found an average summary effect size of Hedges’ g=0.56, showing a medium effect size.

90% of these reached clinically relevant magnitudes!

🔍Diving deep into the world of psychotherapies for #depression:

Our new multiverse meta-analysis created over 4000 meta-analyses.

The results?

Most analytical strategies suggest the efficacy of psychotherapy for depression.

I just pre-ordered a copy of Network Psychometrics by @AdelaIsvoranu, @SachaEpskamp, Lourens Waldorp, and @BorsboomDenny.

I have been meaning to get a deeper understanding of this approach for a while now, and I am super happy that a textbook (soon) will exist to do just that!

Finally! Asking several times a week: „How would @kenjilopezalt boil this, how would he cook that? Is this just a myth or does it really improve flavor and texture? Is there any evidence for that?“ resulted in this great Christmas gift combo🎄

Week 1. A critical perspective on early psychiatric nosology

Hoche (1912) https://osf.io/ukzj4/

Some things changed in the past 100+ years, but some didn’t. Reads incredibly timely.

I recently found this 10 week syllabus “On the Nature of Mental Illness” by @EikoFried

It looks great as it provides multiple angles on psychopathology and is guided by the history of psychiatry.
