My cover for my forthcoming book: a painting by my granddaughter when she was 6: in the likeness of Van Gogh’s Vase with Red Poppies.
I’m excited to see how Finishing Line Press will at my title: That Wild Knocking.

Yesterday I just heard back from Finishing Press they accepted my poetry manuscript. I’m still in shock.

I have a poem up on Last Stanza Poetry Journal’s Issue 20 on Games. The poem is about playing Monopoly with my slightly younger nephew.

Last night, two old people stood out in our street with binoculars and cameras to record the lunar eclipse. It’s good no one reported us to the police as people waiting to be taken by aliens. Saw most of the eclipse but only slightly the red at halfway. I so wanted to see the Blood Moon.

Finish a poem about playing Monopoly with my nephew when I was in HS. He usually won because he liked high rolling properties and I always felt sorry for my imaginary tenants.
Send out one more package of poems to make up for the one rejection I received late yesterday.

Tasks for today: I need to finish a draft poem for the City of Lacey’s poem for April (National Poetry Month). Does everyone know that Lacey was named after a scoundrel? I have to get that into a poem, yes??

My birthday falls on Ash Wednesday. I’m so glad I like fish and shellfish! Friday we are going out and I’m ordering abalone which is my favorite shellfish which I haven’t had since I was in my early twenties.

Today I am just going to think about as many pleasant things I can, and write a poem or two. Try to send out 1 or 2 packages of poems. Today I owe it to myself to be calm and surrounded by good thoughts.

The floor in my room
Covered with dog prints of mud
Let it go. Let go.
