2. Mortal terror at the abject humiliation of being caught in a typo, driving me to proof-read everything approximately 21,000 times before hitting the post/send button.

(Dramatic irony requires this post to contain a glaring typo that I've missed)

In a similar vein, I know I tend to overuse -ly adverbs and it's always a struggle to decide whether the adverb can stay, or if I should find a stronger descriptor or just rewrite the entire section.

To wrap up, this isn’t a criticism of anyone else’s path or choices. More an exploration of how to negotiate my self-doubts while pursuing my dream. #amquerying #amwriting #writersky #writingcommunity

I suspect it’s partly a function of being old enough that I started my writing journey when the Internet was barely a thing and social media was completely nonexistent. I’m willing to learn new stuff, but give me a minute, please? 🥺

It’s why I dragged my feet for so long in joining a platform that limits the characters for each post. I understand the value of brevity, but sometimes I just want to stre-e-etch my wings and fly for a nice long word-journey. I’m not even that skilled at inserting the right emojis. 🤷‍♀️

But at this point in the process, my words are all I have to share, and I feel that anything else wouldn’t be playing to my strengths. Words are my joy. Sometimes I overindulge, which you might have noticed from this multi-part thread. (Am I doing this right? No idea.)😆

That’s not to disparage anyone who chooses the self-publishing route, because everyone has different resources and skill sets and goals, and indie publishing can be a great fit for some. Also, I’m very aware that any path to publishing requires a willingness to self-promote.

It’s one of the reasons I’m pursuing traditional publishing, in spite of how challenging it can be to break into the industry. I’m aspiring to find a team of people to make my books the best they can be, in all the areas like visual design that aren‘t my strong points.

Interesting! I like both versions of the pitch but this one feels a little stronger. I wonder if 'fearful' might come across as passive. (To clarify, being fearful is perfectly understandable - if you can only pick one word to define her, though, try for something with stronger connotations.)

Yes, the official is possibly sympathetic to reform and change. Hard to include every relevant detail in a short space!

Very good point. He's interested in reforming the system so information flows more freely. Now I have to figure out how to phrase that more succinctly...

Hah, maybe I'll have to include that he's potentially sympathetic to their creed. It's a lot to fit in so few characters!

Interesting! I like the idea of her quest expanding from helping the community to helping all of humanity. Because of the supernatural vibes, I'd like to know whether the key is a literal object or something metaphorical.

Very cool concept! Because of the BATB comparison, I'm curious about the character/romance journey in addition to the external stakes of sun-swallowing. But that would be a lot to cram into a short pitch. :)
