Paris more than tripled bike trips! The #how tells a clear story of political vision but ALSO carrots and sticks.
🥕 180km of protected bike lanes, bike parking, growing Vélib’ network, 300 school streets, pedestrian zones, re-greening
🔧 Low-emission zones, higher fuel prices, reduced car space

‼️ UNBELIEVABLE RESULTS‼️ Hold my baguette while I count the people on bikes! How did Paris increase cycling by 240% in a few short years?

The relationship between life satisfaction and car dependence is non-linear. Life satisfaction increases as car dependence increases, but only up to a threshold (50%). Beyond that level, further car dependence leads to a decline in life satisfaction. shorturl.at/s56Bh

To all those out there who are feeling uncertain, worried, anxious. Refuse to be distracted from enjoying your own important work. Keep on blazing trails, finding that north star.

Thank you Sharon for these encouraging words.

When we 'travel together alone', our #mobility contributes to physical, mental, social health problems. When we recapture the value of 'traveling alone together' - surprise! - the humble #bicycle offers a unique potential exposure to diversity. #openaccess

Pretty last minute, but this season we went for a tree. First time in 14 years. I hate the thought of cutting down trees, but carrying home our precious tree by bike was a joy. #preciouscargo #ecargobike @btwin.bsky.social

"We're not Amsterdam! Our city is huge, so riding bikes doesn't make sense." The common trope. But use this cool mapping tool to compare the size of Amsterdam to your city! maps.amsterdam.nl/hoegroot/

Can a street's name make you feel more included, represented in your city? 8 in 10 streets are named after men in #Amsterdam - but not for long. In the financial district Zuidas, all new streets will be named after women leaders. Other districts are following.

#Cycling is 10x more important than #electriccars for reaching net-zero cities". If just 1 in 5 urban residents shift only 1 trip per day from driving to cycling, it would cut emissions from all car travel in Europe by about 8%.

Women led the #Swiss vote against highway expansion. We know women face greater risks & burdens from climate change, unequal participation in decision-making and labor. Swiss women demonstrated critical leadership for social action!

Historic vote!! #Swiss say no to highways, breaking the #blackhole of highway investment, instead making #publictransit, cycling, walking more attractive. Preventing traffic violence, air pollution, sedentary travel, and more. Showing the world there is an alternative narrative & different future.
