Would love to see a system that allows a narrow 22kg/49lb all-weather velomobile (pedal car) to travel from residence to intercity bus or train station on a protected cycle network. Then roll onboard an intercity bus like a land ferry for an extra fee.
Are you aware that numerous union pension funds own voting shares in Tesla?

Numerous pension funds own voting shares in Tesla. Their pension managers must believe Tesla is a rational company.

Regardless of which company makes teleoperators, some means of ensuring operator awareness is essential.

Making serious policy decisions on the basis of fiction isn't a great strategy

Best to formulate Teleoperating While Impaired (TWI) guidelines for situations that could endanger employees or the public. Maybe experiment with sensors that detect alcohol or other drugs in operator's breath or sweat.

Teleoperating While Impaired (TWI)?

Kind of like a driver forgetting to put their vehicle in park and apply the parking brake before exiting the vehicle. Should be easy enough to engineer-out this type of risk. That's the purpose of adequate field testing before commencing mass production.

Your truck is far more of a lethal hazard to wheelchair users, cyclists & pedestrians than small delivery bots.
December 8, 2025 at 2:39 AM
Best delivery approach is autonomous delivery trikes that can mingle and keep up with large vehicles.

If they occasionally get run over, no big loss. Just indicates need for good blind spot detection on large vehicles.

I've almost been run over by close-passing buses. Far more lethal than trikes.

Yes. Here's a typical example.

Dutch people on @bsky.app have said friends have been killed this way despite local drivers being taught the "Dutch Reach."

I'd have more confidence in autonomous vehicles running simple code on a 40 year old Commodore 64 vs average human drivers. Especially drunks.

Best integrated strategy is more home deliveries of groceries, snacks, packages etc.

Fewer off-street parking spaces for in-person shoppers = more off-street parking/pickup/drop-off spaces available for robotaxis of all-sizes that deliver food & packages when not delivering people & prescriptions.

Marques Brownlee is the 6 Million Follower Man.

He seems to have stopped posting on @bsky.app despite substantial support for this post illustrating partnership between man and machines:

He continues to post on X, YouTube and other platforms.

With distributed AI, you can put 10-20kW of GPUs in a house and use waste heat to displace fossil gas. Works very well with low-temperature hydronic floor heating, sidewalk snow & ice melting, outdoor stairway snow & ice melting etc.

When there's a shortage of local energy, switch to GPUs elsewhere
December 7, 2025 at 3:19 AM
AI is turning into an energy-intensive industry.

Distributed AI allows AI to be built near the energy source. Also allows waste heat to be utilized for winter heating, summer cooling (via absorption or adsorption chillers) and potable hot water (for showers, etc.) year-round.

Stats show owners of dark cars use car washes far more often than owners of white cars due to visibility of dust.

I bought a white car because my previous maroon vehicle faded badly while parked in the sun at work and at home. Needing fewer washes was a bonus. Less A/C also.

Even when there's a suitable bus available, it's smart to test a carpool or other alternative for backup in case public transit personnel go on strike.

Vanpools are inherently faster than large buses due to far less dwell time picking up and dropping off passengers.
