How's the book going?

Como le ha pasado a otro: Es la UCO (Unidad Central Operativa), no la OCU (Organización de Consumidores y Usuarios).

Note: I wouldn't put it past them that the "multistore", even if it's somewhat in Microsoft's interest*, saves them from regulatory inquiry.

Because what I think they want is to implant their own store and Game Pass in Playstation and Switch.

Also, if the PS6 and Xbox "Next" are digital-only, they could find themselves, whether they like it or not, with the issue of regulators (especially the EU kind) blasting them for having a closed market.

Switch 2 still having a card slot by default can save them from that.

I just wish for PS6 to come mid (not Holiday, but Summer Holiday) 2029. After all, it's not like the hardware is earning them money – games do.

When Sony were looking to phase out the Vita (even though it'll live forever) from stuff like the PS+, they had the chance to make a PlayStation Mobile store even if just for their phones. And they would've overtaken Apple Arcade much better than anyone else.

Is this a pushback against regional pricing?

Also, how bad it has to be that they have to do that in Japan. I remember a friend who went to Japan and bought an OLED for the equivalent of €190 (in Europe, the Switch OLED is €350).

I'm asking for it so it does work. For example, afaik, Mortal Kombat does not have that ability, so if you buy the Switch 2 version, you cannot use it on a Switch 1. Even though it is highly commendable that it is fully physical, it's like it has a mote of "could've been better"."
November 11, 2025 at 7:03 PM
On the contrary – it DOES work with Z-A. I have the Switch 2 Edition and a Switch 1, and I have been able to play the game end-to-end.

You need to see the boilerplate saying "the version has the game and the upgrade pack". That signifies that you can use it on both consoles.

I'd love to tell you, would you be able to influence it (likely aren't), to ask the developers to consider doing the Switch 2 Edition for their SW1/2 games – so that even a Switch 2 card can be used on a Switch 1 and you can buy them to future proof if you haven't taken the step to Switch 2.

PSA que os interesa saber: Si compras el Leyendas Pokémon Z-A Edición Switch 2, puedes utilizarlo para jugar en Switch 1. Acabo de comprarlo y está aquí la muestra (en el Guiem había poca mesa para hacer video)

And unless what you do want is to buy a Switch 2 case with a eShop code, the GKC is a better proposition to that, because it allows you to resell your license. Again, I would rather buy a card with the game within. However, (bigger) third parties are doing GKC or nothing, not physical or GKC. (3/3)
November 11, 2025 at 4:49 PM
If anything, the GKC is a clearly better proposition than the "I'll offer a 4GB card but you need to download the rest" the likes of Capcom Collections and others did do, which was terrible. At least, this is a clear format, rather than a "scrappy publisher cheapening move". (2/3)
November 11, 2025 at 4:49 PM
My assumption for the 64GB cards is that their strategy of staggered sizes didn't work – most tried to skimp to the lowest size they could get away with. And even Nintendo didn't use the most expensive sizes, because they didn't need those (their regular games entered in 16 or even 8GB cards). (1/3)
November 11, 2025 at 4:49 PM
Other consoles use Blu-ray discs, which are cheap enough to be like USD1 per game. I ain't sure you can go as down, as even the higher size Switch 1 cards are quite more expensive – and never reached the current Switch 2 card sizes anyways.
November 11, 2025 at 4:25 PM
I can understand that the limitations in resources made them go this way – them being unable to match the capacity or speed for internal storage or MicroSD Express without blowing up the cost (sources say cards already cost ≈USD15 a piece).

Let's be clear – that doesn't make me want to buy them.
