I’m keeping the app on my phone as it was. The last time the old app updated before it broke forever. Maybe one day we’ll look back at this moment, frozen in amber, and wonder how we ever recovered from it. (Yes, even the boobs. So many boobs)

In a world full of uncertainty, worry and fear; they offer respite. A place where your favorite characters won't be taken away by horrible plot twists. Where you can build your own story. Where lives are not at stakes/failure doesn't cost you hours. In a way, they are close in genre to cozy games.

For those who haven't heard of them, Dad games are games that don't ask much investment of your time or emotional bandwidth to enjoy. They are usually about doing specific jobs or work and are low stakes. They are for people who are busy and want something to enjoy and relax after a long day.

One of my favorites right now : Voices of the Void : You play a lone researcher sent to an isolated research facility in the middle of the mountains of Switzerland to scan the sky for signals from space. And let's just say it's not going to be a quiet routine assignment. mrdrnose.itch.io/votv

As i'm about to enter my 40s, I feel like i'm moving away from the high flying high stakes action games toward the more slow paced, low stakes "Dad games" (as Yahtzee would say). I don't know if it's because the world is already full of angst and I need an escape from it or if i'm just less tolerant
