I have released a patch to keep CyanTrigger running for now, because I care about the creators who use it. But long-term, the platform needs to invest in stable, documented, and supported tools. That is not something a solo community dev can patch forever.

If CyanTrigger has been important to your workflow, I strongly encourage you to give feedback directly to VRChat. Ask for clarity, for support, and for proper investment in the tools creators rely on. It shouldn’t fall on unpaid community developers to keep critical tools working

I was contacted again over the weekend suggesting talks after the holiday. I was forced to wait again. I thought we had actually started a path to professional discussion. That did not go anywhere either. VRChat is not interested in long-term solutions.

After a week of no response, VRChat then released the breaking update on a Friday before a long weekend, without notice to me, or to the creator community. As you can imagine, creators, including myself, were upset.

One option was to officially tell creators to stop using CyanTrigger. I wanted them to stop promoting my content without asking. I hoped that VRChat could pay me to continue to support, but I also gave an option that did not involve money. I expected to be told of their decision.

I was informed of the bug by VRChat in which they offered a "fix" that violated my license. My hands were tied until these talks were resolved. I rejected their proposal and provided multiple proposals of my own. I assumed that VRChat would be willing to work with me on this.

I have avoided publicly voicing my frustrations for this platform over the years, but this is an exception.

I publicly announced I would stop supporting CyanTrigger over 6 months ago. VRChat could have contacted me then. Or at any time within the past 4 years since CyanTrigger's release. They did not do so with intention to help me or the project.

Yes, someone from VRChat contacted me about CyanTrigger. It was one out of touch message without discussion. It felt very unprofessional. Rights to my work are not free. The public announcement was how I found the answer to the questions I asked them.

I will not consider open sourcing CyanTrigger. I do not recommend anyone trying to start an open source alternative to CyanTrigger either. This is a platform problem, not something the community should be trying to solve.

While I could consider a bug fix, this will only happen again in another sdk update. What incentive do I have to continue support vrchat as a platform? People upset with me should look to vrchat for not releasing an alternative. Udon has been available for 5 years.

CyanTrigger should not have been a community solution. I stopped working on vrc tools due to lack of support back to me. No money for one. Also no one else helped answer questions. It was exhausting. If you care about a tool, you should find ways to give back, even without money.

I know that feeling since I always comment when I see z-fighting, even before this project.
