On the 28 April in 1893, the Girls’ School logbook Gwent Archives recorded the school closing for the May Fair, not opening again until the following Tuesday.

Girls’ School logbook, Gwent Archives: L.L. Morris, correspondent for the Report of H. M. Inspector Girls’ School in 1889, wrote “Discipline excellent and singing good... second standard English is well taught, and needlework (especially darning) is very creditable..."

Boys’ School logbook Gwent Archives: teacher Horace D Evans left to join the RAF in November 1941, leaving a wife and daughter living at 4 Museum Street, Caerleon. Unlike many, he survived the conflict and returned to teaching in December 1945.
