I agree. She is a hospice doctor. I’m a pathologist so maybe it’s an outlet for the suffering we see on a daily basis. Maybe we just need a good cry because we can’t do it at work. And we both love to read. Not all our books are gut wrenching

My best friend from Med School and I both love emotionally wrecking books so she and I will always send each other recommendations on what will be most soul crushing. Don’t know why. But I love the fluff as well and just a well written book. Have you read Fall on Your Knees? Also a favorite.

it is an investment and takes at least 100 pages to really understand who these characters are. I’ve recommended it to people who read it and never connected with it at all. It completely devastated me. My one criticism is that it is perhaps overly and unnecessarily cruel to one person.
