Between this and the morning sweater post from...a few days ago? ( A week ago? Something?) I am pretty sure our 9 yos would be very good friends. In the most chaotic ways possible. 😂

We've owned two old New England homes (one 1905, one 1870s). The heating detail is really hard to evaluate when you buy anytime other than the depths of winter.

The 1870s one, several exterior walls were just...entirely uninsulated? 🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️

Cold drafts *through* the walls are super fun.

It's SO fun!

Great work!

These sound like far more important features.

I mean. We're basically just extruding the intrusive thoughts, right?

Solidarity, my friend.

Yess! I love this one. Enjoy!

Oy. Yep. That would do it.

Somehow I didn't know this about Bujold, but I feel like this explains some of why I (daughter of an engineer, and who ends up with a lot of "thinking about problem solving strategies" in her writing) have always felt a sort of kinship with her work.

It really helps me understand the joy cats seem to take in pushing things off tables.

And, honestly, the thought that cats view humans as NPCs who are there to clean up the messes and replace the barrel/pot equivalents when they leave the room and come back feels accurate.

It's like you have a spy in our house observing our morning chaos

Oy. Yeah. I'd skim over those pastel flowers without a thought.

Have you read Christopher Priest's Airside?

Full disclosure: I have not yet gotten to it, but it was mentioned to me last summer when I made a similar observation on my way to WorldCon, and seems like a really interesting one.

Oh wow. They really weaponize the frame with those wire track box things.

High visibility colors might get old sometimes, but you gotta admit they serve a purpose on the cautioning front.

"Psychically in the red" is such a fitting description for days that start off in this direction. 😖
February 4, 2026 at 1:15 PM
Oooo. That's gorgeous!
February 3, 2026 at 12:16 AM
Seconding this 😁

It's no small task, tracking and reorganizing things like that!

I'm glad it's given you an opportunity to share them here, though, because I'm excited to try the recipes!

Also, I have no idea what word I skipped in the top line of my first response. French toast excitement outran my proofreading.

100%

I could only imagine the chaos if he had a balcony to do his neighborhood watch shifts from.

His porch bed is bad enough most of the time.
