The Jevon's Paradox reminds us that technological change can drive efficiency in resource usage which drives down unit costs but drives up overall demand for the resource (think steam/coal in mid-1800s or AI/electricity & copper demand today).

Trade grows the global economy (positive sum game, not zero sum) which creates new wealth which further increases future trade opportunities, new markets, new ways to put factors of production together, and new products.
Also, production is not inherently better than trade.

National prosperity grows more quickly thru trade, not mercantilism or imperialism. Why? Competition, specialization, comparative advantage, and subjective value driven by free exchange and innovation.

North American recession signals by end of Q1, full recession confirmed by end of Q2 or Q3 (2 quarter mark), global economic slowdown but overall helps China and BRICS at expense of West. We are in bizarro world where it appears no MAGA leaders took Economics 101 or watched "Ferris Bueller"

With tariffs on Colombian arabica coffee and Canadian crude oil, average MAGA voter is going to be headed to their local gas station grumpy and under-caffeinated to find gas at $7 gallon. Then they'll head to the grocery store to find $5 eggs due to bird flu, but happy because Gulf of 'Murica.
