oh that’s great - i like the idea of it (the neat monitor especially) being used for art, for one thing, and knowing you’ve got connections who would be interested also is fantastic… i’ll try to get it out here… i figured there’d be interest here but don’t know anyone personally into retro stuff

to be clear i’m nostalgic/sentimental about it so not trying to make a lot of (or any) money from it, just want it to go someplace it’ll be appreciated which in the past was difficult which is why i still have it

i have my grandfather’s c64 with commodore monitor and disk drive and everything else all in original boxes, sitting in my parents’ basement on the other side of the country, been waiting trying to find a good home for it but haven’t looked in a while - looking on ebay, seems they’re back in demand?

modern ai HR stuff is pure evil - once an actual human is looking at the applications the cover letter is often the only thing that matters to them, but all the evil stuff is training applicants that the wrong things matter so if you make it through the AI you get rejected by the human… it’s bad

don’t know if it’s common anywhere else but in thailand (a few years ago anyway) it was ~typical to get your thai iced tea from street vendors in a plastic bag, but the first time i saw it i was getting a coke - coke with ice in a plastic bag felt slightly cursed (affectionate) - i loved it lol

we are actually photographing the objects and treating them as, well, objects, not 2D pages, and there's loads of room for interpretation and even creativity in how you do that, and it's very expensive also, but thankfully most institutions are now making everything free to use!

my job is in cultural heritage digitization, and my institution makes everything public domain that we can, that's the trend (which is why 220/250 of the images for the book were free to use), but court cases have established that copyright is enforceable on photographs of even PD material

one of the best things about the beatles imo is that even the seemingly-bad songs are *somebody*'s special song, the band is so beloved (and so musically proficient) that even throwaway demos are deeply meaningful to people (image is the top youtube comment for you know my name)

2042 was not very good at launch and is only now getting decent (because they’re reverting a lot of the “innovations” introduced in this one) - I still prefer battlefields 4 and 1 (among those where you can still easily find full servers) but in 2042 (and 5) you can be a woman so…
