No clay in the soil . It was just sand and dried out fast it would go from that to nice black dirt in the same field. Very low humus, which was why no till so effective for us.

You want to leave all the trash on top to hold the soil in place. It will let the earth worms multiply which is good.

We started in late 70s. We tended to use more chemicals then because it was more acceptable then. When l retired and sold the farm. We had increased the top soil by inches.
