In Thoms 1849 it was 'J. McManus, Dairy'.
The stonework may date from 1766 when Echlin Lane opened James's St to the canal dock.

Report from the Dublin Gazette November 1754 of a razor fight between two men drinking on Charles Street. Both were injured and went to the Watch House - where, despite their sever wounds, they forgave each other and were released without charge.
