We might actually get a pomegranate or two this year. I think this is the third year since we planted this tree and it is looking quite good.

This temperature, this early in the morning is more than a bit rude.

It’s not just the apricots that are getting ripe…
January 12, 2026 at 8:05 AM
It’s January and the fruit on our trees is ripening quickly with the heat we’ve had over the last week. Three loads of apricots through my old Fowlers Vacola preserver and I’ve run out of jars - hopefully the extras I’ve ordered rock up before the peaches are ready!

It’s pretty much that time of year again. I pray that your year may end well, and the next one be good to you.

My latest experiment with chillies - something not entirely unlike chipotle paste.

For those of you struggling with winter, be encouraged that the Daffodils are getting ready for spring.

Not complaining about this view.

I’m not a photographer but I do like taking photos. Pre-dawn on the Wimmera River, Horsham.

It seems we’ve got a new neighbour - saw this Australian Boobook owl in a tree out the front our house this morning.

So, a colleague of mine gave two chillies that his father had grown. I’ve now got 14 tiny seedlings that have sprouted so far.

Damn straight! I don’t need some stupid machine to tel me what I want to write!
Last night, Microsoft Word started showing predictive text as I was typing, à la Outlook. I can stand it when writing emails, but in Word? Where I write poems and stories? To hell with you (I immediately went into settings and found a box to untick)

First batch of preserved peaches for this summer. The plumbs and apricots were a bit of a disappointment this year, but the peach tree has been amazing!

Had a visitor yesterday. She (?) was happy to keep foraging while I did what I needed to do in the garden.

Went for a ride to burn off some of yesterday’s Christmas cheer (probably need to ride all week to actually do that)
