I’ve played the Virtual Boy as God intended. On a Switch 2 in handheld mode with two tiny screens showing the same thing and no peripheral. And I even got a headache after like 5 minutes. Consecrated ground.

I don’t know why I’m trying to get into Helldivers 2 for the millionth time right before Marathon comes out, but here we are.

I’ve managed to stave off like everything I’ve wanted to buy this week, games included. But I still want to play Rayman 30th. It’s just the fact that the music is replaced is making it such an irritating thing to even consider.

Yakuza Kiwami 3 definitely helped with the whole no Valentine thing today. Three hours in, it’s super good.

The Rayman 30th Anniversary rerelease replaced the MUSIC? For all versions?! That is nuts. Kinda wanted to play the GBA version since I beat it so many times when I was younger, but now I don’t really even want to get it.

Two games I really wish I could have gotten into, Zenless Zone Zero and Helldivers 2. One has gacha mechanics that drove me away almost immediately, and the other has been pretty impenetrable for me in terms of difficulty since I first got it.

If the late night Olympics can put things in a Starbucks hierarchy, then so can I. This week’s “Tall” game is Stranger of Paradise. I got lost in the mix before I realized it’s an infinite numbers go up game with potentially hundreds of hours of min-maxing.

Art. I’d like to develop a style. Obviously I’m way out of practice with art. Got some new brush pens and a water brush pen. Just messing around with the pens, but sick of the same stock anime character pose I draw whenever I don’t use a reference.

I don’t want to set any expectations, but I did get some new art pens today. I guess I tend to buy strange things when I’m feeling maddening levels of anxiety. Maybe I’ll draw something.

Carmageddon: Rogue Shift. The first brand new game of 2026 I’ve played is a sort of racing/car combat roguelike from the Redout creators that feels like Twisted Metal Kart and it’s kind of amazing. A little unwieldy after 2 hours, but I’m getting fairly consistent.

First Descendant has some of the best skins in any game ever. It’s just too bad that playing First Descendant is an endless stream of overwhelming anxiety.

Battle passes and their "one skin I really want" energy. Rivals is the worst with this right now. At least Black Ops 7's Kagan skin is on page 3 of the regular pass. More than likely passing on Blackcell this season. Thank God.

Cyberpunk on Switch 2 has gotta be the craziest port ever. It's so smooth on here and looks just like the PS5 version graphically.

The Stranger of Paradise DLC is something else. Too much to get involved with right now, but I used Extra Mode to get to the end of the first DLC. This game feels more optimization heavy than anything I've ever played.

I wish I liked Stranger of Paradise. The nonstop weapon and equipment drops has me playing on the easiest mode because I cannot be bothered to sift through all this nonsense, but I’m just not enjoying the moment-to-moment. Endlessly cool though and the references are wild.
