Cutthroat Bridge> Whinstone Lee Tor> Dovestone Clough> back via Pike Low.
Shoulder-high in bracken on springy peat, blooming heather all around. Dovestone Clough narrow, steep, red rowan berries everywhere.
No grouse though, is it too dry or are they wisely hiding? #PeakDistrict #CloughoftheMonth

Sad - if predictable - news that the 257 Sunday bus Sheffield-Fairholmes-Bamford has been withdrawn "due to very low use".

Used to be dozens using this service. What went wrong @derbyshirecc.bsky.social?

Without a car it's now near impossible to explore #PeakDistrict Upper Derwent moorland

Incredibly beautiful banner at #DurhamMinersGala today. First appeared in Ken Loach's Old Oak film.
Designed by Aidan Doyle and Great Northern Banners, it looks even better in real life!

41 years ago to the day I saw the reality of the British state with my own eyes at #Orgreave. The police riot, followed by BBC lies and legal frame ups.
41 years later we're still asking 'who ordered that? and demanding accountability and justice.

When I saw a similar view from Back Tor today (without sun) I didn't recognise it.
Abbey Brook, dramatic in its scale and colour (green today).

Bright sun and a cooling breeze for my first ascent of the very rocky Crowden Clough yesterday. The scale and drama of #KinderScout edges/cloughs always amaze me.
At the top, The Woolpack rock formations suggested a Reform UK party conference on Easter Island.

Exactly 40 years after the end of the #MinersStrike former Derbyshire miner John Dunn recalls the solidarity, the heartbreak, Italian coffee and King Crimson.

The strike isn't just history. It defined what this country looks and feels like today.

The last 257c buses meet at Bamford turnaround 12 January.
Without these buses swathes of the #PeakDistrict are now inaccessible without a car.
We need a public transport system prioritising travellers not shareholders or corporate interests.

Sad news that the 257 Sheffield-Glossop bus service will be withdrawn in January, making lots of the #PeakDistrict impractical to reach without a car.

'Not viable' apparently but how are we measuring the joy of being out on the moors, edges and cloughs?
